Mary McKinnon Hazle

August 31, 1928 ~ January 30, 2017 (age 88) 88 Years Old

Mary Margaret Byrd McKinnon Hazle, 88, of 108 Whitridge Lane, St. George, widow of Paul B. Hazle, entered into eternal rest on Monday, January 30, 2017 at her residence.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday at Memorial Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Clay Shook and Reverend Steve Mims officiating. Burial will follow in the St. George Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons.  Visitation will be an hour before the service at the church. 

Mary was born on August 31, 1928 in St. George, a daughter of the late William Lewis and Olive Hutto Byrd. She was a graduate of St. George High School and attended Limestone College. She was first married to the late Robert K. McKinnon and was predeceased by a grandson, James Jeffrey McKinnon.  She was a member of Memorial Baptist Church, WMU, and various Christian organizations. She enjoyed playing bridge with friends, had a love of plants and flowers, enjoyed art and interior decorating, and enjoyed spending time at the “Byrd’s Nest” cottage at Edisto Beach.

Surviving are her sons, Steve (Eleanor) Hazle, Taylors, Bobby (Bobbie) McKinnon, Billy (Nell) McKinnon and Kenny McKinnon, all of St. George; daughters, Paula (Mike) DeCuir, Annadale, Virginia, Lynn (Barry) Crook, Kay (Don) Lawley, all of St. George; grandchildren, Dana (Jim Adams) McKinnon, Joey (Casey) McKinnon, Bill McKinnon, Drew Lawley, Chase (Morgan) Lawley, Scott (Barbara) Hazle, Michael (Julie) DeCuir, Erin DeCuir, Lindsay (Ben) Waldrop, Brady (Erin) Crook,  Tyler (Rebecca) Crook; great-grandchildren, Will Hilton, Mara McKinnon, Richard Baker, Hunter DeCuir, Mackenzie DeCuir, Ian Waldrop, Abbey Waldrop, Jackson Crook and Preston Crook; special caregivers, Ida Daniels, Gertrude Jenkins, Sue Street, Margie Johnson and Rozena Jamison.
