Wayne Roger Myers

Wayne Roger Myers, 81, of St. George, husband of Vernelle D. Myers, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, January 29, 2023.

Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday at Bryant Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Steve Mims officiating.  Pallbearers will be Dudley Patrick, Karey McAlhany, James Watts, Mark Meyer, David Myers, Wayne Butler, Chip Driggers and Andy Myers.  Burial with Military Honors will follow in Limestone Baptist Church cemetery.  Visitation will be an hour before the service in the funeral home.

Roger was born on October 31, 1941 in Harleyville, a son of the late William Lewis Myers, Sr. and Agnes Amelia Atkins Myers.  He was a 1960 graduate of St. George High School, served in the US Navy and was a retired foreman machinist with the Charleston Naval Shipyard.  He was a member of Limestone Baptist Church where he was a former deacon.  Roger was the chairman of the World’s Grits Festival for several decades.  He was predeceased by brothers, William L. “Billy” Myers, Jr. and Walter David Myers.

Surviving is his wife, Vernelle Driggers Myers; a daughter, Susan Marie Myers, both of St. George; a son, Wayne Roger (Hayle) Myers, Jr., Inman; grandchildren, Tyler R. (Serena) Infinger, Jonathan E. Infinger, Carolyn A. “Cammie” Myers, McKinley A. Myers and Wayne R. “Trae” Myers, III; a brother, Richard A. (Lynn) Myers; sisters, Geneva Patrick, Evelyn McAlhany, Emily Watts and Dixie Meyer; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Myers; and brother-in-law, Stewart (Emma) Driggers.
