Vance Edward Collier, Sr., 93, entered into eternal rest on Monday, January 18, 2021 at the Veteran’s Victory House.
Graveside Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at the Harleyville Cemetery. If you decide to attend: Please adhere to social distancing and wear a mask.
Vance was born on November 2, 1927, in Harleyville a son of the late Thomas Jefferson and Caroline Elizabeth Wimberly Collier. He was an Army Veteran and served in World War II. He retired after 42 years from Giant Cement Plant and was the longest tendered member of American Legion Post 128 for 72 consecutive years.
He was predeceased by spouse Alma Owens Collier, daughters Mary Jeanne Collier and Vanessa E. Collier, and his siblings: Maude Hutto, Ella Rhett Mims, Rozelle Graham Wyndham, Mary Tease Martin, Iva Collier Knight, Raymond Collier, Will Collier, Joe Collier, Manning Collier, Ralph Collier, Heyward Collier, and John (Gus) Collier.
Surviving are daughters Carol Collier Plexico (Ben) and Donna Collier-Harper, all of Columbia, son, Vance E. Collier, Jr. (Sheri), St. George; grandchildren, Jordan J. Collier and Vance E. Collier, III, both of Columbia, daughter-in-law, Sharon J. Cahaly, Gilbert and a sister-in-law, Nettie O. Walters, St. George and many beloved nieces and nephews.
