Stanley "Buddy" A. Stephens, Sr.

Stanley A. “Buddy” Stephens, Sr., 93, of Dorchester, widower of Virginia Williams Stephens, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, September 19, 2023.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, September 23, 2023, at Zion United Methodist Church.  Burial in the church cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Ske-Bo Wimberly, Shannon Stephens, Ian Stephens, Trevor Stephens, Samuel Stephens, Troy Stephens and Wesley Stephens. The family will receive friends an hour before the service.

Stanley was born on April 23, 1930, in Dorchester a son of the late Edward Keller and Laura Iduna Clayton Stephens.  He retired from the South Carolina National Guard and SCE&G.  He was a member of Zion United Methodist Church, Dorchester Ramblers Square Dancing group and an avid bottle collector.  He enjoyed spending time on the Stephens property at the Pine Bluff River Camp.  He was predeceased by siblings, Edward Stephens, Larry Rogers Stephens, Sammy Stephens, John Stephens and Valeria (Veedie) Stephens Welch.

Surviving is his son, Stanley A. “Stan” (Susie) Stephens; grandchildren, Tracy (Jaye) Buras, Allen Stephens and Lindsey Stephens; four great-grandchildren and a special friend, Barbara Garrett.
