James Samuel “Jimmy” Horne, Jr., 90, of St. George, husband of Sylvia Wagers Horne, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, at Trident Medical Center.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Friday at Calvary Baptist Church with the Reverends Frank Shivers, John O’Cain and Alex Meade officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Douglas Horne, Darryl Horne, Tom Horne, Kevin Horne, Greg Horne and Mark Horne. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 5:00-7:00 PM at Bryant Funeral Home, St. George.
Jimmy was born on November 4, 1932, in Adams Run, SC, a son of the late James Samuel Horne, Sr. and Gertrude Smoak Horne. He was an avid fan and 1955 graduate of Clemson College and was a retired chemist with Giant Portland Cement Company. He was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church where he served as deacon, preacher, chairman, treasurer, Sunday school teacher and choir member for over 50 plus years. He was predeceased by a daughter, Wanda H. Westbury, grandchild, Jason Horne, daughter-in-law, Debbie S. Horne and a brother, Jack Horne.
Surviving is his loving wife of 63 years, Sylvia Wagers Horne; sons, James S. “Jim” (Joni) Horne, III, all of St. George and Otey Mouzon “Zonnie” Horne, Branchville; grandchildren, Kimberly H. (Gene) Dukes, James S. (Emily) Horne, IV, Katherine “Katie” H. (Bryan) Love, Joshua Horne, Jeremy Horne, Ashley (Jamie) Lyons, J.J. Horne, Michael Horne, Sr., Kaysie (David) Drumheller, Kristie (Matthew) Ross, Elizabeth Westbury; great-grandchildren, Hadley Dukes, Lawson Dukes, James Sellers Horne, Harrison Horne, Elena Love, Leon Beck, AnnaBelle Beck, Michael Horne, Jr., Storm Horne, Madelyn Drumheller Micah Drumheller and Brayden Ross; brothers, John Otey Horne, Autry Gene Horne, Morgan Horne and Larry (Beckie) Horne; son-in-law, Tommy Westbury, Jr.
