James Donald Phillips, Jr.

James Donald Phillips, Jr., 73, of Ladson, husband of Carrie Jeannene Byrd Phillips, entered eternal rest on Friday, June 3, 2022.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 12, 2022 at Bryant Funeral Home, St. George from 5:00-7:00 PM.

Jim was born on January 4, 1949, in Texas City, Texas, a son of the late James Donald Phillips, Sr. and Marie Zamojski Phillips. He was a retired submariner CPO of the United States Navy after 23 years of service.  He later retired from the Berkeley County Sanitation Department and was member of the American Legion and VFW.  He enjoyed playing pool and was an APA member.  He was predeceased by his parents, stepson, Jason Brownlee and a brother-in-law, Parker “Bubba” Byrd.

Surviving is his wife, Carrie Jeannene B. Phillips; stepson, Christopher (Paula) Brownlee; a brother, Richard Robert (Kelly) Phillips; a sister, Mania (Walter) Wilson; grandchildren, Olivia, Bryan and Haylee Brownlee; great-grandchild, Willow Rose Brownlee; bonus grandchildren, Kobe and Revel Yarborough; brother-in-law, Danny Daniels; and a son James Donald Phillips, III, Texas.
