Henry “Hinkey” Warren Hughes, III, 77, of Dorchester, SC, husband of Phyllis Coleman Hughes, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at Trident Hospital.
A graveside service will be held 11:00 am Friday, June 23, 2023 in the Dorchester Cemetery, 125 Firehouse Road, Dorchester, with Reverend Ronald Brewer officiating. Pallbearers will be Hugh Myers (nephew), David Grooms (nephew), Timothy Peters (great-nephew), Joe Way, David Bell and Jimmy Boyd
Henry was born July 6, 1945 in Dorchester a son of the late Henry Warren Hughes, Jr. and Lillie Catherine “Doll” Infinger Hughes. He was a graduate of Harleyville-Ridgeville High School and served in the US Army Reserves. He retired as a plant supervisor in the Chemical Division of Westvaco after 40 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and his family. He was a lifetime member of Zion United Methodist Church in Dorchester and was a longtime member of the Good Cheer Hunting Club. Predeceased by his parents Henry Warren Hughes, Jr. and Lillie Catherine “Doll” Infinger Hughes, daughter, Christian Leigh Hughes, brother, David Lebby Hughes and niece Connie Louisa Heatley Peters.
Surviving is his wife, Phyllis C. Hughes; a son, H. W. (Christine) Hughes, IV, Dorchester; SC; a daughter, Nikki Hughes (Bobby) Evans, Charleston; grandchildren Taylor C. Hughes, Coleman E. Hughes, and T. Beckett Evans; sisters, Mildred (Albert) Heatley of Dorchester, Peggy (Hugo) Myers of Summerville, and Darlene (Talmadge) Atkins of Dorchester; sisters-in-law, Sharon Hughes Gieger, Emily (Danny) Grooms and Nancy (late Teddy) Lee, 7 nephews, 5 nieces, 14 great-nieces, 16 great-nephews, 3 great-great nieces and 2 great-great nephews.
