Franklin David Herndon, of Harleyville, 74, husband of Diane Green Herndon, passed away Monday, March 28, 2022, at Low Country Hospice House.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, March 31, 2022, at First United Methodist Church of Harleyville with Rev. Mickayla McDonald and Reverend Robert Hoover officiating. Burial will follow in the Limestone Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his nephews, Marty Herndon, Kevin Herndon, Shawn Herndon, Travis Herndon, Brian Hilton, Steven Hilton, Danny Webster, Allen Grooms and David Herndon. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ron Wagers, Lawrence Mack, Andrew Cook, Murray Kizer, Danny Kizer, Tony Way, Stevie Myers and Stanley Wiles. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 5:00-7:00 PM at Bryant Funeral Home, St. George.
Franklin was born on September 24, 1947, Charleston County, a son of the late William D. Herndon and Myrtis Stanfield Herndon. He graduated from Harleyville-Ridgeville High School and was retired from Holcim Cement Plant. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Harleyville. He was predeceased by a daughter Tracey Kay Herndon, brothers Marion Herndon, Harold Herndon and a sister, Ruby Crosby.
Surviving are his wife of 41 years, Diane Green Herndon; daughter Julie JoHanna Herndon-Zelnar (Andy Zelnar); grandsons, William Jacob Herndon and Judson Jamison Zelnar; granddaughter, JoHanna Presley Zelnar; sisters, Dolly Webster, Adams Run and Sara (Jim) Barnes of Summerville; brother, Charles Herndon, Eatonton, GA and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
