Denor Louise Chitty Obituary

Mrs. Denor Louise Eidson  Chitty, of St. George , S.C.  wife of the late Ronald E. Chitty, went rejoicing to her heavenly home, in the early morning hours of January 15, 2021. She was the daughter of the late Lillian and Carrol Eidson and last survivor of eight children. She moved to Seneca to be closer to her children and grandchildren.

Known to all as Miss Lou, she was truly an angel on earth, a kind and generous friend to everyone who never spoke ill of anyone, and never met a stranger. Everyone was welcomed and fed at her house. She loved to laugh.

Mrs. Chitty was born May14, 1928, in Barnwell and lived in Williston until she moved to St. George after her marriage to Ronald. She graduated from Williston-Elko High School. Lou and Ronald operated Poole's 5&10 for many years until it became Chitty's. Many St  George teenagers were hired to work there for decades. After selling the store, Lou worked in the St. George water department until her retirement.

As an active member of Memorial Baptist Church for over 50 years, she was a Sunday School teacher, choir member, and WMU director. She worked with the youth and was well loved and respected by all.  She was a member of the Little Book Club and Rose Garden Club, holding many local and state offices. She was a Lifetime member of the state of South Carolina Garden Club, She helped deliver meals to shut ins for the Methodist Church. A favorite activity was shopping with her niece and buying Christmas presents for everybody all year long!

Lou is survived by two loving sons, Ron Chitty (Ava) Greenville and Roger Chitty (Nina) Seneca, 2 adored granddaughters Hannah Louise Chitty and Bella Jewel Chitty and a niece she always called her daughter, Dell Ballard, North Augusta, S.C.

The family appreciates the loving care given to her by all of her caregivers, especially Bell Johnson who became a special friend and loved her very much.

Private graveside services will be held 11:00 AM, Tuesday January 19, 2021. She will be laid to rest in St. George Cemetery next to her husband. Memorials may be made to Memorial Baptist Church, PO Box 566, St. George, SC 29477.
