David W. Shieder

David W. Shieder, 80, of 113 Shieder Road, Branchville, passed on Wednesday, August 29, 2018.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, September 1, 2018 at Mt. Tabor Baptist Church with the Reverends Corey Leggett, Bob Frederick and Bobby Etheredge officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Blake Shieder, Jared Shieder, Kayla Shieder, Amber Judy, Annsley Judy, Rev. Ken Frederick and Len Frederick.  Visitation will be Friday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM at Bryant Funeral Home, St. George.

David was born on January 24, 1938 in Grover, a son of the late Lawton David and Mary Janelle Carter Shieder. He was the past owner and operator with his wife of Shieder’s Small Engines since 1973.  He served in the National Guard.  He was a member of Mt. Tabor Baptist church where he served in capacities such as teaching Sunday School, trustee of the cemetery committee and was very active as a leader of the RA’s.  He was also a trustee for Cattle Creek Campground and was active with the Lion’s Club.  His hobbies included hunting, shrimping, and fishing; especially fishing the Edisto River and Lake Okeechobee.  He enjoyed and supported the activities of his grandchildren.

Surviving is his wife of 60 years, Pearly Shieder; are two sons, Wayne (Stephanie) Shieder and Warren (Karen) Shieder, all of Branchville; a daughter, Wendy (Kevin) Judy, Reevesville; grandchildren, Blake Shieder, Kayla Shieder, and Jared Shieder and Amber Judy and Annsley Judy; great-grandchild, Madalynn Grace O’Cain; a brother, John Norris Shieder, Sr.; and a sister, Elaine (Rev. Bob) Frederick.
