Beatrice Dempsey McClure

Beatrice Dempsey McClure, 87, widow of Ernest H. McClure, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, April 23, 2023.

Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, April 27, 2023 at St. Matthews Baptist Church with Rev. Duane Woosley and Ray Metts officiating.  Burial will follow in the Deep Branch Baptist Church Cemetery, Varnville, SC.  The visitation will be an hour before the service beginning at 1:00 PM in the church.

Beatrice was born on October 24, 1935, in Early Branch, SC, a daughter of the late John Henry Dempsey and Minnie Cartrette Dempsey.  She was a teacher’s aid and bus driver with the St. George Public Schools.  She was a member of St. Matthews Baptist Church.  Beatrice was first married to James Irvin Shuman and later to Adeal Mixson.  She was predeceased by grandchildren, Dwayne Pendarvis, Nicholus Sanford and Baby Russ and siblings, Dorothy Benton, Ruby Buehner, George Dempsey and Jack Dempsey.

Surviving daughters, Wanda S. (Gene) Ahl, Walterboro and Bonnie M. (Matt) Sanford, St. George; grandchildren, James (Kezia) Kirkland, William (Kim) Kirkland, Ashley (Eddie) Russ, Christy Sanford, Matthew (Aundrea) Sanford, Jr.; 14 great-grandchildren, Jamie (Hunter) Kirkland, Kasie Fanning, Heather Fanning and Adam Kirkland, Trinity Davis, Zachary Davis, Justin Heath, Caitlyn Kirkland, Ian Kirkland, Mackinse Kittrell, Zoee Sanford, Lillie Davis, Shellie Sanford, Mitchell Sanford; and a great, great granddaughter, Maddison Kirkland.
