Graveside funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Friday at the St. George Cemetery with the Reverend Dr. Theron Smith officiating.  Visitation will be an hour before the service at the cemetery.

Virginia was born on July 14, 1921 in St. George, a daughter of the late Hovey Clyde and Wamer Howell Rickenbaker.  She was a graduate of St. George High School and retired in 1982 as the Dorchester County Auditor after 30 years of service.  She was an active member of the St. George United Methodist Church where she served on many boards, Mission Meals program.  She was a nationally accredited flower show judge, member of the Green Thumb Garden Club, Indian Field Dorcas Quilting Club, past Worthy Matron, secretary, and treasurer of the St. George Eastern Star Chapter and board of director of the St. George Cemetery.  She was blessed with many talents all of which she shared with others.  Countless personalized Christmas stockings, quilts, aprons, scarves, hats and other items have been made by her hands and given with love to her family and friends.  She was eager to share and teach others who desired to learn to carry on the beauty of handwork.  Her ability to garden and create seasonal decorations ranged from making thousands of Memorial Day poppies and bridal bouquets.  Gee’s love for family, fun and friends at Edisto Beach created generations who continue to gather there.  She was predeceased by her sister, Hazel Crook Walters.

Surviving is her son, Roderick M. (Wanda) Evans, Charleston; grandchildren, Gilbert Norred (Larry Spelts) Evans and Virginia Kaye (Jimmy Martin) Evans; great-grandchildren, Madison Craig, Sophie Craig, Kensie Martin and Gracie Martin; special cousins, Kirk (Henrietta) Howell and Belle (Derham) Whetsell; and a number of nieces and nephews.
