Thomas Carter (Jr.) Riser

Thomas Carter Riser, Jr.  88, of Bowman, husband of Peggy Fralick Riser, entered into eternal rest on Monday, June 18, 2018, at his residence surrounded by his family. 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, June 21, 2018, at Ebenezer United Methodist Church, 181 Holstein Road, Bowman, with the Reverend Mike Written officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Richard Fralick, Paul F. Gramling, Jr., Griff Merritt, Jimmy Merritt, Watson Weathers, Jr. Jack Wesley and Tracy Woolsey. Honorary pallbearers will be Alan Fralick, Charles Fralick, John Fralick, Mark Sandifer, Craig Smith, Haden Smith, John Wimberly, Donnie Woolsey, Jeff Woolsey, Matt Woolsey and Tommy Woolsey. The family will receive friends at the home, 1970 Duncan Chapel Road, from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. Wednesday and at other times as convenient.  

Thomas was born on January 4, 1930 in Bowman, a son of the late Thomas Carter “Doc” and Nell Weathers Riser. He was a retired vegetable farmer and a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church, where he was a former board member, trustee and choir member.  He was predeceased by a son, Thomas Carter Riser, III. 

Surviving are his wife, Peggy F. Riser, Bowman; a brother, John William “Bill” (Peggy) Riser, Columbia; sisters, Crystal R. Weathers, Bowman, Virginia R. Bowes, Bamberg, Mary Lou R. (Francis) Faulling, Orangeburg; and a number of nieces and nephews and his special fishing buddy “John Quatt.”
