Rose Russell Scott

Rose Scott, 82, of St. Matthews, SC passed away Sunday, October 27, 2019 with her children by her side.

She was born Rose Marie Russell to the late Walter T. and Thelma H. Russell on June 3, 1937, in Sumter, SC.  Rose graduated from Edmunds High School in 1955 and soon thereafter married Willard Mack (WM) Scott, Jr.  The early years of their marriage was spent in Sumter before relocating to Harleyville, SC., where many life-long friendships were formed.  In devotion to their families, they resided a short time in St. Matthews before moving to Nashville, TN. 

Rose is survived by 2 children; Cindy (Roger) Quattlebaum, of St. Matthews and Lang Scott (Linda), of Old Hickory, TN.,  2 brothers: Ken (Dolores) Russell and Randy (Susie) Russell,  6 grandchildren; Bart (Sharie), Brett (Emily), Clay (Addi) and Barry Quattlebaum, Hillary (Chris) Tyrrell, and Rylee Jean Scott.  She was proud of her 9 great-grandchildren: Ryan, Cale, Natalie, Knox, Hayes and Lila Rose Quattlebaum, Eisele, Emory and Betsy Tyrrell.  Rose was preceded in death by her husband, her son, Barry, and her sister, Margaret Prosser.

Rose poured her life and love into her family through nurturing, home-cooked meals and fierce competitiveness at Scrabble and Rummy.  Her door and heart were always open to those who sought a safe, secure place to land, a nap on the couch or a simmering hot meal.  She leaves a flood of beautiful memories to those whom she loved and served.

Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at 2 PM at Pinewood- Weeks Cemetery at 625 Gordin, Pinewood, SC.  In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to: Trinity Bible Church 3589 Mary Ader Ave, Charleston, SC 29414 OR to Gethsemane Baptist Church - 655 Hammond Cross Rd. St. Matthews, SC  29135.
