Richard "Rickey" Heath Obituary

Richard Hutto Heath, 70, of St. George, husband of Louanne Grace Heath, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, December 2, 2018.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 9, 2018 in the Bryant Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dr. Theron Smith officiating.  Burial with Military Honors will follow in the St. George Cemetery.

Rickey was the son of the late Yvonne Hutto Berry and Thomas Olin Berry, Jr.  He was a 1966 graduate of St. George High School and attended the University of South Carolina. He was an independent crane operator and was known by his nickname Spyder.  He and his wife Louanne enjoyed playing in local bands for many years.  He was a member of the NRA, the Sons of Confederate Veterans, and the St. George United Methodist Church.  He served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War from 1968 to 1972 as an E-4 Petty Officer 3rd Class.  He received a National Defense Medal, a Vietnam War Service Medal with one Battlestar, a Meritorious Unit Commendation Ribbon, a Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon, a War Service Medal from the United Daughters of the Confederacy, and a War Service Medal from the Sons of Confederate Veterans.

Surviving are his wife, Louanne G. Heath; a daughter, Kristen Sloan; 2 grandchildren, Chelsea Mosley and Victor Heath Sloan; 3 great grandchildren, Nathan, Paisley, and Connor Mosley; a brother, Mike (Susan) Heath; sisters, Kay Heath Henry, Judy Heath Byrd, Joan Berry (Steve) Nassar, and Tommi Lin Berry (Kevin) Garrick; and a number of nieces and nephews.
