Leroy Blewer, of St. George, widower of Nancy Lee Blake Blewer, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, August 2, 2018 at his residence where he was born 95 years ago.
Funeral Services will be held 3 P.M. Monday August 6, 2018 in Memorial Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Clay Shook officiating. Family will receive friend one hour before service. Burial with Military Rites will follow in the St. George Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be G.W. Kizer, Lin Kizer, Brett Jolly, Mark Boehles, Steven Wilds, and David Banner. Honorary Pallbearers will be Wilson Patrick Sunday School Class.
Leroy was born on July 15, 1923, a son of the late George Furman and Gladys Hilton Blewer. He was former owner of Blewers’s Red and White and Lerae’s Florist in North Charleston and served in the Navy during WW II. He was a member of Memorial Baptist Church and was predeceased by grands; Julane Pate, Amanda B. Mizell; siblings, Connie Mae Fox, Virgil Blewer, O’Dean (Red) Blewer, Elise B. Champey, Ernestine R. Carter.
Surviving are his daughter; Toni L. (James) McDowell, of St. George; sons, Christopher L. Blewer, Robert A. Blewer both of Summerville, Terry L. Blewer of Santee and Michael F. (Gwen) Blewer of Orangeburg; step-daughter, Kathy J. (George) Coleman; grandchildren; Terry Lee Blewer, Belinda Clark, Noel McDowell (Brett) Jolly, Jesse McDowell, Molly McDowell, Brittany (Todd) Lapin; a number of great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; a sister, Evelyn Kizer of St. George and a brother-in-law, William Carter, Vance.
