John Harold “Hal” Mizell, 61, of Harleyville, husband of Karen Humiston Mizell, entered eternal rest on Saturday December 1, 2018 at Trident Medical Center, Charleston.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday December 4, 2018 in the First Baptist Church of Harleyville with Reverend Terry Hiers officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Christopher Childers, Kyle Childers, Ryan Childers, Matt Mizell, Kevin Taylor and Stephen Taylor. Visitation will be held 5 to 7 P.M. Monday evening at Bryant Funeral Home, St. George.
Hal was born March 29, 1957 a son of Wesley Kermit and Parnice Atkins Mizell and was predeceased by a brother, Kermit Mizell. He graduated from Harleyville-Ridgeville High School in 1975 and entered the apprentice program at Charleston Navel Shipyard as a Machinist in the propeller shop for 20 years and later he was employed at Robert Bosch for 12 years as a set up Mechanic. He was a member and Music Director for 15 years at the First Baptist Church in Harleyville. He was a square dance caller for 25 years with Frontier Twirlers, Dorchester Ramblers, Rainbow Ramblers and was lead vocalist for the CHART’R Band.
Surviving: his wife, Karen H. Mizell; children, John Wesley (Misty) Mizell, Amanda (Thomas) Childers all of Harleyville; Garrett (Maranda) Butterfield, Charleston; Timothy Daily, Sacramento, CA and Katherine (HP) Daily, Anderson, SC and a foster daughter, Holly Hooks. Grandchildren; Kaylee Blewer, Ayden Mizell, Riley Braden, Natalee Perryman, Corey Perryman, Ava Mizell, Christopher Childers, Kyle Childers, Alicia Childers, Ryan Childers, Serenity Gainey, Alexandra Gainey, Noah Butterfield, Abigail McDonald, Jayden Hooks, Jack Beck, Avex Boyd, Bentley and great-grandchildren; Roland Westleigh, Aiden Durant, Kylee Childers, Thomas James “TJ” Durant.
