George "Dicki" Richard Sutcliffe

George Richard “Dicki” Sutcliffe, of St. George, husband of Theresa F. Sutcliffe, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at Trident Medical Center.

Graveside Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, December 8, 2017 at the St. George Cemetery with Reverend Dr. Theron Smith officiating.  Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 5:00-7:00 PM at Bryant Funeral Home, St. George. 

Dicki was born on February 4, 1938, in Orangeburg, SC, a son of the late George Mack and Norma Ruth Blackmon Sutcliffe.  He was a 1956 graduate of St. George High School where he was an outstanding athlete. He played on a number of state championship teams and was selected for the SC Shrine Bowl. He was the owner of Sutcliffe’s Furniture in St. George which he opened in 1958.  He was a member of St. George United Methodist Church where he was active in the choir, Young Workers Sunday School class and the United Methodist Men. He was predeceased by a sister, Martha S. Kornahrens.           

Surviving is his wife of 60 years, Theresa Fickling Sutcliffe; a son, George Richard Sutcliffe, II; daughters, Dicksi (Tony) Folk, all of St. George and Kara (Quentin) Mellett, Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, Daniel (Angel) Folk, Rachel (Alex) McCracken, McCann and Maeryn Mellett; great-grandchildren, Landon and Decklan Folk.
