Edgar Oliver McMahan, Jr., 96, widower of Jennie Johnston McMahan, died October 15, 2017. A memorial service will be held at the St. George United Methodist Church Thursday, October 19th at 3pm. The family will receive visitors in Parler Hall one hour before the service.
Mr. McMahan was born June 12, 1921, in Marietta, Georgia. He was the son of Edgar Oliver McMahan and Beth Coe McMahan. He was a graduate of the Clemson Agricultural College of South Carolina with a BS in Chemistry. He was a WWII veteran, serving in the 509th Parachute Infantry. He was a self-employed businessman in St. George until his retirement in 1984.
Mr. McMahan is survived by his daughters Coe (Frank) Atherton of Kamuela, Hawaii; Jennie (Barry) Redmond of St. Matthews; Beth (Mack) Tyner of St. George; sister-in-law Anne Johnston of St. George; niece Sarah (Victor) Jowers of Camden; grandchildren Erin (Ian) Bennett, Tripper (Maddie) Atherton, Elizabeth Redmond, Christine Redmond, Keith (Paige) Tyner, Kirk (Jeannie) Tyner, Emily Tyner, Jeff Tyner; great grandchildren, Landon Tyner, Charles Tyner, Jackson Tyner, Cadence Bennett, Magnolia Bennett and Juliette Atherton.
