Benjamin J. Durham, III, 73, of St. George, husband of Donna Thomas Durham, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at his residence.
A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 AM Friday, June 22, 2018, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with the Reverend Steve Mims officiating. The family will receive friends after the service. A private interment will precede the service.
Benjamin was born on May 11, 1945 in Langley Field, VA, the son of the late Benjamin Durham, Jr. and Rita M. Raab Durham. He was a graduate of the University of South Carolina and a member of the US Air Force where he served as a Command Pilot and Instructor Pilot of C-130 airplanes. As a Vietnam veteran, he was stationed in the
Philippines during the Vietnam War and was responsible for airlifting many Vietnamese evacuees to Clark Air Force Base. He was the former owner and operator of St. George Auto Electric with his son and attended Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Donna T. Durham, St. George; a son, Steve (Tara) Durham; a grandchild, Joseph Carter Durham, all of Summerville; two sisters, Beth D. (Dennis) Ricker, State College, PA and Katharine D. (Brent) Russell, Atlanta, GA; a brother-in-law, Robert L. Thomas, St. George and a sister-in-law, Elaine T. Perrine, Hopkins, SC; and his faithful companion, Elsa.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 114 Baptist Drive, St. George, SC 29477.
