Alvilda Creel Byrd Murray

Alvilda Creel Byrd Murray, 98, widow of Sims Lee Murray, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, July 8, 2018 at Summerville Medical Center.

Funeral Services will be held 2:30 PM Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at Bryant Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Shannon Bullion officiating.  Burial will follow in the Murray Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Dickie Byrd, Malcolm Burns, Danny Owens and Jeffery Byrd.  Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until time of service. 

Alvilda was born on April 23, 1920 in Grover, SC, a daughter of the late John Washington and Edith Rebecca Ferguson Creel. She was a graduate of St. George High School and was an inspector at Carolina Girls Wear.  She was a member of Grover United Methodist Church and was first married to Parker Ellis Byrd (deceased).

Surviving are her sons, Roger F. (Lois) Byrd, Charleston and Eddie (Sandra) Byrd, Simpsonville; a daughter, Sylvia B. Livingston, Irmo; a step-son, James (Patricia) Murray, Grover; a brother, Earl Louis (Margie) Creel, Grover; a sister, Lynette Britt, Grover; a sister-in-law, Margaret Creel, North Charleston and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  She was also predeceased by a son, Parker Ellis Byrd, Jr. and brothers, Randolph S. Creel and LeRoy Creel.

Memorials may be made to Grover United Methodist Church, 1912 Highway 15, St. George, SC 29477.
