Patricia Heaton Walters

August 7, 1931 ~ May 18, 2017 (age 85) 85 Years Old

Patricia Ann Heaton Walters, 85, of Reevesville, SC, widow of Dibbon Carl Walters, Sr., entered into eternal rest on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at her residence.

Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, May 21, 2017 at Reevesville Baptist Church with the Reverend David Swofford and Reverend Dr. Ron Heddle officiating.  Interment will follow in the Magnolia Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Blake Byrd, Sam Forest, Douglas “Dougie” Heaton, Jr., Jackie McAlhany, Shawn Murphree and Jason Wimberly.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Bobby Joe Chinners and Ted Strickland.  Visitation will be Saturday evening from 5:00-7:00 PM at Bryant Funeral Home.

Patricia was born on August 7, 1931, in Reevesville, a daughter of the late, John Lewis and Carrie Belle Lucas Heaton.  She was a graduate of St. George High School and was a former office manager with U.S. Cocoa Mat and Reevesville Real Estate and Insurance Company.  She was an active member of the Reevesville Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years, choir member and pianist.  She was active in the local garden club, a former member of the DAR, Trustee of the Magnolia Cemetery and a founding board member of Dorchester Academy where she served as the school’s first secretary.  Patricia was the matriarch of her family, a Christian lady, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and a devoted citizen of the Reevesville community.  She was predeceased by a son, Dibbon Carl Walters, Jr. and siblings, Carolyn Byrd Hilton, Gerald Cordell Heaton and Douglas Frederick Heaton, Sr.    

Surviving is her daughter, Debra Ann Walters, Reevesville; grandchildren, Jessica Susan Walters, St. George and Whitney Alison Walters (William) Mellis, Bowman; great-grandchildren, Maci Alison Mellis and Chance Brody Mellis; a brother, John Lewis “J.L.”  (Pattie) Heaton, Reevesville; daughter-in-law, Susan P. Walters, Reevesville; special friend of the family, Terri Gorin; and a number of nieces and nephews.  The family would like to thank her caregivers and Hospice of Charleston for their compassionate care of our loved one.
