Edith Mae Walters Axson, 81, of St. George, wife of George H. Axson, entered into eternal rest on Friday, August 18, 2017 at her residence.
Funeral Services will be held 10:00 AM Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at Memorial Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Clay Shook officiating. Burial will follow in the St. George Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Alton Schipman, Ronnie Axson, Chris Walters, Jamie Walters, Ty Ellefson and Royce Gelzer.
Visitation will be Sunday afternoon, August 20, 2017 from 3:00-5:00 PM at Bryant Funeral Home.
Edith was born on February 3, 1936 in St. George, a daughter of the late Troley McCraeand Emma Westbury Walters. She was a graduate of St. George High School, attended Anderson College and was an artist and owner of St. George Ceramics. She was a member of Memorial Baptist Church, St. George Red Hatters, and a Master Gardner and active in Alanon. She was predeceased by a daughter, Laurie A. Seabolt.
She is survived by her husband, George Herbert Axson; sons, Herbert McCrae (Elaine) Axson, all of St. George and George Herbert “Bert” Axson, II (Laura Riley), Charleston; grandchildren, Erica (Alton) Shieder Schipman, Emily Seabolt, George H. “Tripp” Axson, III, Stephen Joseph Axson; great-grandchildren, Emma Ann Schipman, Elizabeth Laurel Schipman and William Knight Schipman, Emily Taylor Seabolt and Wyatt Wayne Seabolt; a brother, John Owen (Delaine) Walters; two nephews, Chris (Kim) Walters and Jamie Walters.
