David Wayne “Droop” Fralix, 77, of Harleyville, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at Colleton Medical Center.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday at Old St. George Baptist Church with Reverend Kevin Hinton officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ray Harley, George “Bubba” Knight, Dale Green, Franklin Riley, James Fralix and Leonard Ammy. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 5:00-7:00 PM at Bryant Funeral Home.
Wayne was born September 4, 1940, in Smoaks, a son of the late James David and Lillie Corine Hutto Fralix. He was a graduate of St. George High School, served in the US Navy and retired after 40 years as a welder from Giant Cement Plant where he was a member and former President of Local 216 AFL CIO. He was a race car driver at the Summerville and Orangeburg Speedways. He was predeceased by brothers, James Durham Fralix and Allen Lanier Fralix.
Surviving is a son, David (Betty) Fralix, St. George; a daughter, Lisa (Richard) Fralix, Hanahan; grandchildren, Tracy (Jaye) Buras, Summerville, Jessica (Ryan Troutman) Fralix, St. George, Kayla (Corey) Shuler, Providence, Danielle Carreiro, Murrells Inlet and Jarrett Carreiro, Hanahan; great-grandchildren, Andon Buras and Avery Buras; sisters-in-law, Gail Colson Fralix and Joyce Durr Fralix; special niece, Julie Fralix Byars; and several nephews.
