Carolyn Traxler Way

Carolyn Traxler Way, 91 of St. George, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, January 20, 2018.  She was preceded in death by her beloved husbands, James W. Way and Walker S. Traxler. 

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday, January 22, 2018 in the St. George United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Theron Smith officiating. Burial will follow in St. George Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great-grandsons.  Family will receive friends one hour before the service.

Carolyn was born on June 18, 1926 in Charleston, the daughter of the late Marion Sumter and Alberta Carolyn Anderson McCants. She attended Memminger High School and Rice Business College. She was a local Artist and was well known for researching and painting family Coats of Arms. She was a member of St. George United Methodist Church.

Surviving is her daughter, Carol Annette (Buddy) Hartzog, St. George; sons, Charles Walker “Chuck” (Ann) Traxler, Charleston and David Marion Traxler, Lexington, KY; a brother, Marion Sumter McCants, Jr., Charleston; Step-children, Col. J.B. (Susan) Way, USMC, Retired, Greenville, Suzanne W. Peden, Seneca; Grandchildren, Kevin Lee (Kimberly) Hartzog, Ashley Carolyn (Jason) Byron, Alison Dale (Kerry) Cooley, Brian Walker (Jill) Traxler; Great-grandchildren, Hunter Shieder Hartzog, Haden Walker Hartzog, Connor Lee Hartzog, Lucas Marion Chavis, Noah David Byron, Caleb Carlisle Byron, Matthew Cyprian Byron, Donna Kaitlyn Nichols, William Tyler Nichols, Zachery Thomas Nichols, Walker Lee Traxler, and Cailyn Ann Traxler; and, Step-Grandchildren, James B. Way, Jr., Lillian Way Henderson, James Edward Peden, Katherine Peden Montjoy and Virginia Anne Peden Michalik and seven step-great grandchildren.
